{"id":3573,"date":"2018-06-20T11:41:42","date_gmt":"2018-06-20T11:41:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thinkladuma.com\/?p=3573"},"modified":"2018-06-20T11:41:42","modified_gmt":"2018-06-20T11:41:42","slug":"prince-william-experiences-laduma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging2020.laduma.com\/one\/prince-william-experiences-laduma\/","title":{"rendered":"Prince William Pays A Visit As Laduma&#8217;s CaVRn Makes Its European Debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>HRH Prince William visited Laduma\u2019s CaVRn as our immersive VR dome wowed visitors at the International Business Festival\u00a0(IBF) in Liverpool.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>HRH Prince William has become the latest high-profile visitor to our highly-acclaimed CaVRn dome.<\/div>\n<div>The Duke of Cambridge was welcomed to Laduma\u2019s world-first Virtual Reality experience by the company\u2019s chief executive Ben Smith at the International Business Festival\u00a0(IBF) in Liverpool.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>The Duke of Cambridge explained that while he had seen VR in a headset before, he had never seen a 360\u00b0 film in a dome. And he emerged from CaVRn, after spending far longer in it than originally scheduled, with a beaming smile, telling the waiting crowd of media and conference delegates that the experience had been \u2018fantastic\u2019.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Max Steinberg, Chairman of the International Business Festival, was another to speak glowingly about what he saw: \u201cWhat Laduma have done, and the way they\u2019ve done it, is professional, exciting and innovative. Everyone I have taken in there &#8211; from His Royal Highness to a group I\u2019ve just taken in from Italy &#8211; have just gone \u2018Wow\u2019.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>And Laduma\u2019s CEO thanked His Royal Highness for his interest in Laduma\u2019s work. \u201cIt&#8217;s was a great privilege to have Prince William visit CaVRn,\u201d Ben said.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cHe was engaged and seemed genuinely interested in the technology we have developed and how it could be used in different industries \u2013 particularly education. And he surprised me with his knowledge of the projector system we have developed to power CaVRn. We\u2019re delighted he enjoyed the experience.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nC8B69kkKyo?rel=0\" width=\"896\" height=\"504\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div>The VR film the Duke of Cambridge was watching in Liverpool, was Laduma\u2019s latest piece of work \u2013 this time creating a film for Invest Liverpool, designed to help the city build on its growing commercial success.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>This is the first-time audiences outside the US have been able to watch content in CaVRn. It allows\u00a0groups of users to enjoy immersive content without the needs for headsets, and can house 15 people at any one time.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>The Invest Liverpool 360\u00b0\u00a0film\u00a0features\u00a0the city region\u2019s iconic sights and profiles some of its most distinctive industries. Locations covered in the film include Burbo Bank wind farm, the Knowledge Quarter, Sci-Tech Daresbury, Cammell Laird Liverpool\u2019s waterfront, St Helens RFC and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Beverly Staniford of\u00a0Wirral Council said: \u201cToday when I went in the Laduma CaVRn, wow, it blew me away! Everyone is buzzing and talking about it in the festival.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Robert Pendergast of\u00a0Liverpool\u00a0Tropical School of Medicine said: \u201cIt really puts you inside the experience. It made me feel proud that we\u2019ve got so much to offer. Living in the city you fall victim to knowing what it\u2019s about but not experiencing it. It was unbelievable.&#8221;<\/div>\n<p>The IBF,\u00a0of which Prince William is patron, is held at the Exhibition Centre every two years. It continues until June 28 and both Smith and fellow Laduma co-founder Alex Kunawicz will be speaking at the event next week.
